USAAF Type D-1 Ground Crew Jacket
Originally
designed for use for the ground crew members of the USAAF, this
jacket did however make its way on to aircrafts.
The D1 is a
lightweight simple design made to endure extreme weather conditions.
It became popular mainly because of its noticeable weight difference
compared with its counter part, The B3.
The start date for this model's manufacturing is unconfirmed due to lack of historic documentation surrounding it.

How to Measure Correctly
Measure your chest circumference around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal around your body. The tape should fit comfortably without being too tight.
For flight jackets, leather jackets, and sheepskin jackets, we recommend allowing some extra room for comfort, especially if you plan to wear a sweater underneath.
