N-2 Test Sample
Introduced in the late 1940s, around the same time as the N-3 parka, the N-2 was the shorter version of the iconic snorkel parka.
The N-2 type was issued to US Air Force pilots stationed in colder climes.
This jacket was a fusion of the best features of the N-3 and the B-15 (soon replaced by the MA-1) and combined them.
Unlike the N-3, the N-2 had a zipped split hood, as the large Mouton lined structure restricted the pilot's neck movement during flight. The split hood, which lay flush on the back without a zip, not only provided freedom of movement but also provided an extra layer of warming to the pilot's back.
We reproduced an early test sample of the Type N-2.
The type N-2 / is made of a specially manufactured material, which has the colour
and properties of the extremely durable nylon used during that period.
Nylon 66 was invented by DuPont Co. Nylon 66 is resistant to fire and durable as compared to other nylon fibres.
Upper and lining: 66 nylon
REAL washable trim
Hood lining in mouton fur
Ribbed cuffs in wool 4% elastane
