It took us more than 2 years to complete the authentic replica of the leather jacket worn exclusively by the commanders and officers of the Deutsche Kriegsmarine (German Navy) U-Boot Waffe.
During WW2 from 1939-1945 these submarines were mainly deployed in harsh weather conditions in the Atlantic and Biscayan Sea.
It was our goal to keep the jacket as authentic as possible using the best quailty materials available. Our U-Boot coat is made from 100% soft steerhide,
lined with a warm inner fleece and is complete with storm cuffs within the sleeves for extra wind protection.
The buttons on the jacket are 100% Metal Kriegsmarine which have the orignal anchor featured, they also have a counter button on the inside for more stabilty.
Behind the collar we have also included the RZM stitching identical to the original.
The U-Boot Coat was worn by top guns such as Erich Topp (the red devil), Adalbert Schnee, Guenter Priem (the bull from Scapa Flow) and decorated commander, Heinrich "AJAX" Bleichrodt.
Today original WW2 German Navy jackets are extremly hard to come by they are often in bad condition and very expensive.

BUCO J-24

In 1933, Joseph Buegeleisen recognised the need of motorcyclists for a variety of products that could be sold directly to motorbike dealers. He opened his business at 316E Jefferson Street in Detroit and called it BUCO (BU from Buegeleisen and CO from Company). He produced various products for Harley Davidson and Indian riders such as windshields, saddlebags and gloves. In the mid 40's he started producing high quality leather motorbike jackets. After World War II, he led the market with the J-21 and J-22 models. Due to their design, material and workmanship, BUCO jackets are still among the "Best of the Best" leather motorbike jackets in history.
From the early 1950s, BUCO was one of the largest motorbike accessory manufacturers in the USA, based in Detroit's old industrial area at 21220W Eight Miles Road.
In 1953, the J-24 was introduced. The 50s were a glorious time for BUCO and they cooperated with companies like Reed and BROOKS and produced highly profitable leather clothing and other accessories like helmets and windshields in their factory. They also produced leather motorbike jackets for companies such as Sears, Roebuck&Co from the late 1950s.

In 1966 Joseph Buegeleisen suffered a heart attack and decided to sell the company to Ford's safety belt company American Safety Cooperation. The company built a new factory in Fresno to meet the growing demand for motorbike equipment in California and became famous for their helmets. The company did not pay much attention to the production of leather products and started to import leather jackets from England, Spain and Japan which were not of good quality. At the beginning of the 1970s, the oil crisis hit many companies in the automotive industry hard and BUCO disappeared during this time.

All our jackets are hand sewn, aniline dyed and vegetable tanned.

In order to fly in high altitudes, pilots required a extremely warm and efficent jacket to protect themselves against harsh weather.
In 1943 the US AAF developed the B-3 Flight Jacket which was inspired by the original RAF Jacket. The B-3 Alpha is simply the American version,
High Quailty with extra durability and strengthened seams.

Especially after the occupation of France, this rare fighter pilot jacket was very popular among all members of the German Air Force flying personnel.

From day fighters, battle pilots, night fighters and observers to Stuka pilots.

Every pilot liked this short, smart, sleek and sporty fighter pilot jacket, which was also very practical and comfortable to wear. As it had a zip fastening and was very close-fitting, pilots chose to wear it in the cramped cockpits of the Me 109 and FW 190.

Our reproduction of this jacket is as close to the original as possible. We have even reproduced the correct unusual small front buckle to ensure maximum authenticity.

The A-2 jacket of the US Army Airforce was introduced in 1930 and produced until about 1942, it was the successor to the A-1 jacket.
The B-3 sheepskin jackets were developed for pilots flying at higher altitudes but the A-2s are the orignal fighter pilot jacket.
Our Thousand Miles jacket is made from premium quality steerhide and vegetable tanned in our own tannery.

The US Army Air Corps designed the A-3 sheepskin flight pants to match the B-3 jacket. One could only receive the pants with the jacket as a matching set.
The A-3 trousers were made out of the same materials as the jackets and both were specifically designed to be worn in extreme low temperatures at high altitudes.
We were able to successfully reproduce these special A-3 trousers and in doing so you can now call a piece of clothing history your own.
